New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 28, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN I was ready to quit this one as soon as he threw down the Stalwart Bodyguard and then the Reinforced Armor, and he would've won easily had he not made the mistake of putting down a second ally. After that it was just a matter of waiting my opponent out. Luckily I had an Eternal Renewal in the end, just in case he did also and the game was going to last longer.

Shadow Era Meltdown 37: Zaladar vs. Elementalis - Friday Fail!
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 23, 2014 Version: 2.88 FRIDAY FAIL Elementalis is a tricky card in Meltdown because you're dependent on drawing a good succession of cards (you're a sitting duck in case you don't draw any allies in the beginning), but if you DO, it's easy to assume early board control. As usual, lack of card draw was the big reason for my loss on this one, though they really did have a good early roster of allies that kept me on my toes. I probably would have still lost even if I was drawing cards, it would have just taken longer.
Shadow Era Meltdown 36: Zaladar vs. Banebow - Wednesday Win!
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 21, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN Sorry for the minor screencasting interruptions during the game. Anyway, pretty straightforward win here, as usual the biggest determining factor is the ability to draw cards. I was actually losing for most of the game but having cards in my hand always meant I had short and longterm options. And then once you have Infinity Core you can play even more defensively, allowing you to keep from burning your cards.

Victor being an anti-ally hero doesn't match well against a weapon wielder like Gwenneth.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 15, 2014 Version: 2.88 FRIDAY FAIL Wow, this game is like playing against a mirror. Well, not quite, cause it didn't end in a tie. I got way too fancy at the end playing with my attachments, when really all I should've done was keep taking off her Lone Wolf. I was still playing the long game even though I was on fire and poisoned, which should've told me to hurry it up. I'm at least glad it was a close-ish game.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 15, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN Majiya's a decent hero against Elementalis, in that she deals a decent amount of damage, and can hopefully win in a drawing battle. Shadow Era Meltdown 30: Lance Shadowstalker vs. Serena Thoughtripper - Wednesday Win
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 05, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN My opponent this game is someone I've played MANY times. They're memorable for using the catchphrase of "I SMELL VICTORY" at the start of every game, even though I'm pretty sure at no point have they ever beaten me. So in this instance I decided to see whether or not, once my victory was assured, I could manage to get EVERY ALLY I HAD ON TO THE BOARD (not counting sacrificed). Thank goodness they didn't quit early :) Meanwhile, Lance is quickly becoming one of my preferred heroes in Meltdown. Having haste, stealth, and ambush is a great way to control a board.

New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 5, 2014 Version: 2.88 COMMENTARY MONDAY Fun come-from-behind game here between Lance Shadowstalker and Boris Skullcrusher. Boris actually taunted me with a "GG GJ" back when he had like 20 health to my 6 or something and then called me "lucky" right before I beat him. Sorry about video quality today, I had recording problems and didn't want to have to start over again. One time incident, I promise!

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: December 3, 2014 Version: 2.88 FRIDAY FAIL Banebow just had a counter for everything I had going here, destroying my Infinity Core, disabling my allies with Anklebreaker, and then outdrawing me with Blood Frenzy. I MIGHT'VE gotten lucky enough to survive at the end if not for his Full Moon, but even that seemed unlikely.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: November 29, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN Another win in which usually I'd be the one playing Zaladar. I was certain I would be able to outlast him even with his own Infinity Core and his What Big Teeth (and obviously his Shadow Ability), but as soon as he started having more allies than me on the board was when I started getting worried. In that instance I realized the only way I could win was to let him put all his allies on the board so he wouldn't have a way of recycling them and regaining health anymore.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: November 21, 2014 Version: 2.88 COMMENTARY MONDAY This commentary was recorded about 15 minutes after the actual game was played. Immediately after I tried recording a live game and my computer froze mid-game. So uh, maybe I'm not gonna do that again... This game was notable in that not only did I come back from a 20-to-1 deficit, I was playing Darkclaw against Majiya, when usually it would be the other way around (especially Majiya with Infinity Core).

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: November 19, 2014 Version: 2.88 FRIDAY FAIL This was pure hubris on my part, wanting to rush my win, thinking I could recover with Infinity Core. Majiya's well-timed Tidal Wave with their Ill Gotten Gains allowed her to set up the Portal and to rush ME. A painful but earned loss.
Shadow Era Meltdown 24: Banebow (Me) vs. Eladwen Frostmire - Ally Control
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (Commentary Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Win), and Friday (Friday Fail) Originally Played: November 18, 2014 Version: 2.88 WEDNESDAY WIN I didn't play too many allies here because I'm pretty sure I had a Lone Wolf somewhere (which is what the Dark Ascendant was for, to make sure I wasn't stuck with a disabled ally). But Eladwen seemed to have picked some bad meltdown cards, so I managed to win this without needing to regenerate.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown matches every Monday (with commentary), Wednesday (Normal victory), and Friday (Loss). Originally Played: November 18, 2014 Version: 2.88 This one was a heartbreaker for my Heartstriker. Shadow Era Meltdown: Eladwen Frostmire (Me) vs. Gwenneth Truesight - Card Hungry
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: November 13, 2014 Gwenneth had a HUGE advantage over me here, especially when she disabled my Braxnornian Soldier at 3:36 (which prevented me from regenerating via Lone Wolf), and then Mind Controlled my Rider of Ellos at 5:44. But then she made several huge mistakes: - Used Blood Frenzy when she had plenty of other ways to draw cards, which made her bleed quickly with no help from me. - Used Healing Touch too soon, when she was still in no danger of dying, allowing me to use Engulfing Flames with no defense at 9:05. - MOST importantly, she decided to kill my Braxnorian Soldier at 7:06, when she had no reason to. If she had left him alone, he still would have died (because of the Evil Ascendants), she still would've healed with Crimson Vest, she would've dealt ME damage instead, AND MOST OF ALL, I wouldn't have started regenerating with Lone Wolf until one turn later, which would've been enough to kill me in another turn. Gwenneth got greedy, and I got lucky!

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: November 10, 2014 Two unusual heroes in this battle, and frankly this may be the first ever time I've actually won using Ter Adun, mainly because I had an opponent who had a passive hero as well as having bad deck construction (i.e. they loaded at 56 cards).
Shadow Era Meltdown: Banebow (Me) vs. Eladwen Frostmire - Friday Fail!
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: November 10, 2014 Frustrating loss here; Banebow is very good at early board control but sometimes his low damage makes it hard to destroy higher-health enemies. Just couldn't hang on.

Shadow Era Meltdown: Banebow (Me) vs. Amber Rain - Textbook Milling
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: November 10, 2014 Temporal Disturbance drained the opponent well, but it was us stealing each others' cards via his Dimension Ripper and my Gravedigger's Cloak that made the game really interesting. He would've killed me when he stole my Stalwart Bodyguard, but then I was able to get him back when I stole his Meteor Shower. Remember kids: don't use cards that cause you to lose cards (like Temporal Disturbance, Dimension Ripper, and Gravedigger's Cloak) when you still have important cards left in your deck. Especially when you're a card dependent hero like Amber Rain!

Originally Played: November 4, 2014 After being down to 3 health vs. their 28 health, I successfully mill the opponent, who refuses to quit even though I'm slowly gaining health doing nothing and he's slowly losing health. Thankfully he didn't stick around until he hit zero.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: November 4, 2014 I don't even remember having picked Mocking Armor for my deck, much less two of them. Thank goodness. Also, Ill Gotten Gains is a very good passive card drawer, but at the end of the deck it becomes a serious liability. I lost a game recently because of the same thing, so I feel for this guy.

Shadow Era Meltdown: Victor Heartstriker (Me) vs. Banebow - Ally Destroyer
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: October 29, 2014 Banebow is the best overall hero in Meltdown (even more than Zaladar, since Banebow can control the board faster), but Victor Heartstriker is a very effective ally destroyer with its Hunter cards. Victor is most effective against Elementalis, but with Lone Wolf he can be very good at outlasting any opponent.

Shadow Era Meltdown: Zaladar (Me) vs. Moonstalker
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: October 23, 2014 Originally meant to use Lone Wolf and mill this guy but he never really managed to dispatch my allies. Good to note in the future, Morbid Acolyte, which disables an ally's passive abilities, also removes Stealth on an ally activated by Moonstalker's ability.

Shadow Era Meltdown: Elementalis w/ Infinity Core vs. Elementalis w/ Infinity Core
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: October 23, 2014 I normally don't play Elementalis since it's counterintuitive with Lone Wolf, but it does work well with Infinity Core. Opponent makes some questionable moves early in the game (not upgrading Lightning Hunter, killing my Magma Jackal with his Agent Rex) that kills both his allies when they should've survived. If they had I well could have lost the game quickly.
Shadow Era Meltdown: Banebow vs. Banebow - Bazaar's Folly
Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: October 22, 2014 While I put high emphasis on card-drawers, I almost never play Bazaar (nor Blood Frenzy). Unless you have a very strong rush deck, you can easily get milled. Plus in Bazaar's case you're also giving your opponent extra cards. You can put Bazaar on your deck but only use it if you're desperate for cards and know that you can finish before your deck runs out. Otherwise, use other card-drawing abilities.

Please Subscribe! New Meltdown Matches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Originally Played: October 21, 2014 Played these two matches basically one after the other with the same player, me quickly losing the first match and my opponent quickly losing the second match. Believe it or not my Serena deck was stacked with goodies, tons of weapons, What Big Teeth, Reserve Weapon, Lone Wolf, card drawers, etc. Just had really bad early luck. Re: second match, opponent had really bad luck themselves, and that was BEFORE I threw down the Spirit Warden that would've exiled his allies from the graveyard before he could resurrect them. I noticed what might've been a bug at the end when he drew his Shadow Knight and his last dead ally didn't seem to return to his hand. But he would've lost regardless.

Shadow Era Meltdown - Zaladar (me) vs. Zaladar - Epic 34 turn game, win with 1 health
Played: October 1, 2014. This game was an HOUR long in real time (the playback is sped up).
At 11:00 Opponent uses Soul Reaper to bring their HP up to full (28 versus my 7), THEN uses Eternal Renewal at 11:43.
At 14:00 I am down to 1 HP while he still has 12.
His critical error was at 12:17 when he used 3 SE to destroy my Nurturing Spring. If he'd kept the 3 SE he would've been able to use his ability to kill me 3 turns sooner (aka the three turns I used to kill him)
I win with literally 1 HP and no cards left
